The third Annual Kennebec Town and Country Club annual Business Appreciation night is planned for Saturday, February 7 at the Kennebec gym from 5 to 7 pm. The appreciation is open to the general public.

In addition to the 20 booths set up by members of the local business community a few new events have been added to the schedule.

Local businesses will offer information about their businesses plus food and door prizes.

The annual chili cook off has been expanded this year with the addition of an ice cream freeze off. Entries for both contests should be at the gym prior to 5 pm as judging will start exactly at 5. Once the official judging is complete samples will available to all for selection of "Peoples Choice Award."

Chili entries should come in a crock pot and be ready to serve. For general food safety, it is suggested that pasteurized eggs be used in the homemade ice cream entries. Any flavor is accepted. Ice cream will be judged based on flavor, body, and texture. Ice cream should be packed in ice to keep it frozen.

The Town and County Club will collect family memberships dues of $10.

All current officer holders will be challenged in the 2004 election to be held. The slate of officers include; Don Miller (incumbent) and Jodie Mertens, for president; Travis Almond (incumbent) and Doug Halverson, vice-president; Heather Volmer and Wendy Voss, secretary; and Donna Bowar (incumbent) and Penni Almond, treasurer.

Plus, members will vote for their choice to be named Kennebec Citizen of the Year. Club members will vote for the person they feel has done the most to promote and improve the community of Kennebec during the past year.

To raise funds for the 2005 Centennial Celebration the T&C Club is raffling a new Honda 4-wheel drive 4-wheeler. Only 400 chances are being sold. With a limited number of chances still available the drawing will be held Saturday night at the appreciation. If there is anyone left in the area that hasn't yet purchased a chance, please contact T & C president Don Miller or Kim Halverson as the tickets are going fast.
