Ownership of Presho Flowers changed hands Tuesday, August 16th, when Karen Willis of Presho bought the business from Sarah Ambur. It will continue doing business as Presho Flowers.

I plan to continue delivering the same quality service the flower shop has provided in the past, said Willis. She will continue to carry the same type of items; fresh flowers, silks, gift items, candles, and plants, along with a few new additions.

Karen will operate the shop herself, with the exception of hiring extra help during the busy times. The flower shop will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

The idea of owning the flower shop was not new to Karen, I had thought about buying it when if came up for sale in 2003, but I wasnt ready. For the last year and a half, Karen has worked at the Kennebec Elevator as a bookkeeper. I really enjoy doing crafts so buying the flower shop seemed like a good fit, said Willis.
Willis says she is looking forward to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and the Christmas Main Street Open House. She plans to become a member of the Presho Area Chamber. Willis will host an open house at a later date.

The flower shop was previously owned by Sarah Ambur, who decided to sell the business in order to spend more time at home with her son Rane. Sarah purchased the business in 2003.

The Vivian Centennial Committee met last week to select the date of the 2006 Vivian Centennial celebration. Chairwoman Jodi Smith announces that the community of Vivian will host a Centennial celebration July 3rd and 4th, 2006.

The theme, Vivian, a Bridge to the Good Life, was chosen. Committee member Lez Moore will present logo designs at the next committee meeting in October.

The Centennial celebration will include a parade, games and activities for all ages, a barbecue, and a program on the 4th of July. A fireworks display is also being considered. The Vivian High School alumni will host a reunion on July 3rd.

Tom Authier, program chairman, is gathering interesting or humorous stories of life in Vivian over the past 100 years. Authier plans to develop skits based on Vivian stories. If you have a Vivian story to share contact Authier at 605-683-6571 or write him at PO Box 24, Vivian, SD 57576.

Numerous fund raising projects are being organized including the raffle of a commemorative Vivian Centennial over & under gun. Vivians 100 year history is being compiled into a book. We plan to have wearables, imprinted with the Vivian theme and logo, available for sale by fall, just in time for holiday shopping, said Smith.
Joining Smith, Moore, and Auither on the committee are Ryan Huffman, Bob Patrick, Lonis Wendt, Misty Chester, and Marsha Hullinger.
