[b]Lyman Co. 4-Hers recognized for accomplishments [/b]

The Lyman County 4-H Recognition Event was held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the American Lutheran Church in Presho. The Prairie Pals 4-H Club hosted the event, with Ashley Uthe, Candice Volmer and Marchelle Brodrecht serving as Emcees. Pastor Lori Hope gave the invocation. Following a slide presentation of 4-H events throughout the year, Norval Millard, Lyman County 4-H Leader Association President, and Bob Fanning, Lyman County Extension Educator presented awards.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to the Prairie Pals 4-H Clubs for their donation to the SD 4-H Foundation.
Jana Sprenger received a cash award for her Special Foods entry at the State Fair using beef. Grady Brodrecht was presented with a cash award for his welding exhibit at the SD State Fair. Austin Bower and Wyatt Perry were presented with purple Lyman County 4-H ribbons for qualifying for the State Shoot in Shooting Sports, with Landon Fanning and Austin Perry receiving blue Lyman County 4-H ribbons in Shooting Sports.

Receiving 4-H Leaders Certificates and pin were as follows: Valerie Lien - 5 years, Sandy Juhnke - 15 years, and Gay Murphy - 20 years.
Graduating 4-H members were Drew Reuman and Ashley Uthe.
The Senior Food Award went to Jamie Lien, and the Junior Food Award to Reed Lien. The Top Junior Sewing Award went to Sarah Muirhead, and the Top Senior Sewing Award went to Jamie Lien. Senior Total 4-H All Around went to Jamie Lien. Junior Total 4-H All Around went to Reed Lien. The 4-H Horse Show Senior All Around went to Haley Juhnke, and the Junior All Around to Maycee Ness. The Percy Copeland Award went to Maycee Ness, and the Veva Copeland Award went to Sarah Muirhead. The Friend of 4-H award was presented to Karen Gilman.

Congratulations to all the Lyman County 4-H members, their leaders and parents for a job well done. More photos on page 3.

[b]Presho Area Chambers 5th Annual Parade of Lightsset for December 1st[/b]

Get your Christmas lights out of storage and decorate your vehicles and trailers for the 5th annual Presho Hometown Christmas Parade of Lights set for Thursday, December 1st.

Rob and Lois Comp, this years parade organizers, invite individuals, churches, youth groups and businesses from around the county to participate in the parade. We would like to see this be the biggest and best holiday parade of lights yet, said Lois Comp. Everyone is welcome to join in and participant in the parade. Comps will assist in securing the use of generators for anyone needing to borrow one for the event.

Parade entries will start lining up about 7:45 PM along the north side of Zion Lutheran Church on E 5th Street. Call Rob or Lois at 895-2156 for information and to register or just show up and get in line for the parade.

Preshos Parade of Lights is part of the annual Hometown Christmas Open House that has traditionally been held the first Thursday after Thanksgiving. Participating businesses will remain open until 8 PM. See this weeks ads on page 8 of this weeks Herald.

Funeral services for Patrick Everett Rigney, 91, of Winner, SD, formerly of Kennebec, SD, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14,2005, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Kennebec, SD.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13,2005, at Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD.
Burial was at the Winner Cemetery in Winner, SD.

Moraha Mae Myers Dean, 99
Moraha Dean, 99, Rapid City, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, at a local nursing home. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Phyllis I. Lunz, 75
Phyllis I. Lunz, 75, of rural Wapakqneta, OH died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
